It just dawned on me that I have been doing commissions for the City of Heroesβ’ community for a little over two years now.
Though I have never, EVER played on this online game, I think I pretty much know how the game design system works. Basic elements such as belt buckle designs, shoulder plates, logos, capes, cowls and armors. I pretty much drew every combination.
Two years. I can’t believe it.
The image on the left is the very first commission I’ve been asked to draw. The character is named Kore, with her alter ego Courtney by her left side (her left, not yours). She was created by Ashley Johns. The finished image was done and posted on my DeviantART account on October 18, 2005. I was recommended by a fellow deviant EvilMark who is a friend of the commissioning party.
I kind of wonder how this character’s been throughout these 2 years. If my drawing still holds true to her design.
That started it all. From then on, I probably have drawn more CoH and CoV characters than anything else, and I have been introduced to a lot of original characters. Both the generated 3D ones and their creators. Some are great to work with, while a few have been somewhat of a pain.
And I don’t think I’m going to stop anytime soon. As of this post, I have three CoH commissions to finish by November.
Two years. About 50 individual original characters.
Here’s to drawing more.
Has it been that long? I remember finding your site when following someone’s link to your tutorials and the City of Heroes art forums. I love your work, CoH and otherwise, and the CoH community has come to love your stuff too. You are one of their favorite artists and have found a place in our hearts.
I could get you a 10-day buddy key if you like and you can come try it out for a bit! π π
And there are -zillions- more combinations left to draw π
I don’t see you having a shortage of fans anytime soon either, lol. You’re one of my all time favorite artists. I have yet to see a picture from you that didn’t blow me away. π
You were my first serious commission for a CoX character, and I’m still incredibly pleased that I got the opportunity to work with such a fine artist π Here’s to many, many more years and costume combinations π
As long as you’re not running away screaming. π You do great work.
That was great!!!
We’ve been very lucky to have you for so long! Your commissions for CoX always turn out much better than our humble characters appear on-screen.
Happy new year… and here-here to many more years of Farlow CoX creations!
Do you still do coh commissions?
Yes. The COH community started me on commissions, and I will always accept commissions based on those characters.
